Seems to make sense to me, the faster you slow down the faster you can go into it. Have to hit he brakes kind hard. However (I could be wrong) I don't think that would make a whole lot of difference cause you car will only go around a curve so fast ( on a track) You shouldn't need to slow down a lot so you may only gain a few tenths of a second. Plus most circle track racing from my understanding is with a clutch you can use that and not touch the brake. (theoretically).
Just my thought and opinion.

What are you talking about? Maybe a circle track like talledega or Daytona speedway you don't have to touch the brakes but pretty much all of the circle tracks you have to hit the brakes and not just downshift.

The really small circle tracks in Nascar when the cars go into the turns and hitting the brakes the rotors will begin to glow red from the heat.

iv been dirt track racing for 10 years and trust me when i saythat its hard to race without brakes standerd or auto. and theres alot more to tacking a corner right then just hitting the brakes and going again you need to know where when and for how long to use them. the guy who can corner right will almost always have faster lap times.

I will agree with that I was going more for the in therory kinda thought, I would say it also depends on what kinda track you are racing on and how big it is. But I spose knowing how to drive will make the biggest difference.

How many times have You been watching a NASCAR race and seen drivers pull out of the race because the've lost their brakes? LOTS! Have You ever noticed that the brakes on a NASCAR or Road course car glow red and sometimes even white during heavy competition. Taking the corner is in the chassis setup and the brakes. The fasted that You can enter a corner and maintain speed, The faster You can exit and maintain momentum. I've seen many lesser powered cars in the same class win a race because the combination of Driver, chassis and brakes outclassed the opponent. C'mon, some people shouldn't be race car drivers no matter how enthusiastic the person might be. Talent and the best car win every time. The answer to the original post is that momentum will carry You through the corner the best. If You can accomplish this without slowing down as much as the next guy, then You'll beat Him out of the corner. Thanks for listening.
