In my 2000 1500 with the 5.3 when i fill the tank up to the top the fuel guage drops to empty, i've heard of recalls on other years but not on mine.  Also when starting the truck at the pump just after a fill up it cranks alot then acts like its flooded. Just last week had an ses light come on so had it scanned and turns out to be fuel pressure sensor, if i were to replace my fuel pump would it solve all of these problems in one shot?

Welcome to the forum!!! Not sure about the recall, but your flooding problem is probably do to a bad fuel pressure regulator. From what I understand it is not that expensive or hard to replace.

Very very common for fuel level sensors giving problems, causing an inaccurate guage.. But as far as not starting properly after fill up? Do you remember what the code number was? It'll start with P and then 4 numbers. Get the fuel pressure checked to see if it is, in fact the fuel pressure regulator, or the pump itself. Normal is between 55-62PSI, if I recall correctly.

On a tip from another post to cure a knocking engine on the first start of the day it was suggested to use Cheveron Techron. I dumped a bottle in the tank today and was reading the lable on the side of the bottle and one of the things it says it helps to prevent is malfunctioning fuel gages. My gage drops to empy on a full tank so after I run through a tank or two I'll post some results.
