Hi, I'm new on the site and just purchased an '08 2LT Malibu. We've put about 500 miles on this week driving around. The SES light came on today when I started the car after we had driven about 20 miles and then the car sat for about an hour. I drove 20 miles back home, it ran fine. Light still on. Plugged in my Actron scanner, and it won't link. I know my reader works, I tried it on a '99 Silverado. Did something change for '08 ?

Newer GM vehicles(I believe 06 and up) are using a high speed LAN system...the data wire at the DLC is now a green wire in pin 1 rather than purple in pin 2. Your scanner may be looking at pin 2 for data from the vehicle. Go to the website or call tech support for your scanner to see if there is an add-on module to be able to retrieve codes from your vehicle.

yea...I see no connector in pin 1 of my scanner. Also, I just noticed the remote start quit working.

Couldn't find anything about upgrades or adapters on Actron site. I did talk to a dealer who pretty much confirmed the change in pins. He didn't know which ones changed, but he knew they had to buy new adapters for whatever they use. Also, found out the remote start is automatically disabled when the engine light comes on.
