mmmjboner -> RE: '98 2.2L Cavi Ignition (3/7/2008 9:51:43 AM)

Anybody out there? I looked at the ICM's autozone had in stock. From what their computers say, there was a 3-plug (11 pins) ICM used in '93 and earlier, a 2-plug, 8 pin ICM used between '94 and '96, and a different 2-plug, 8 pin ICM used '97 to '02. This is just for the 2.2L's, in cavi's and corsicas and berettas too I think. I looked through the manuals while I was there : that didn't help much. The number of pins in the manual don't match up with any of the actual ICM's I looked at. I can think of 9 pins that the ICM SHOULD have: 1. Ground 2. 12+ 3. EST 4. Bypass 5. Crank sensor (to ecm) 6. Crank sensor (from sensor) 7. Sensor ground (to ecm) 8. Sensor ground (from sensor) 8. Tachometer but I dont know what the other 2 would be for. The wire colors are pretty standard among the GM DIS ICM's, so it shouldn't be TOO hard to figure out. (I've got a junk 3800 on a stand with 3 cylinders and it runs [with starting fluid] but the ICM will fire even if there is no ECM, but the ign timing is locked at *I think* 10*BTDC.) Bueller? Bueller?...
