We have a 2002 2500HD 8.1 Allison crew cab.  I love it, but it has gotten to the 100,000 mile mark and in my family that has previously been the "get rid of it by here" mark.  But, I'm trying really hard to believe in Chevy and Allison...and expect it to go quite a bit longer.  Guess I'm just wondering what everyone's general consensus it, how long yours has gone and what the real problems are, if you have had any.  It's never pulled more than a BBQ pit but does spend a lot of its time in the dirt. (We live in the desert where everything is either already dead or in the process of dying.)  Hubby wants to get a diesel, but I think if this one has enough life left in it, it's better to run it almost into the ground...

Any input is greatly appreciated.
