97 Cavalier 2.2 non eco
180k miles
The other day after driving to work the car decided not to start. It will crank almost to the point of turning over but wont actually catch. It has 3/4 tank gas and I tried jumping on two separate occasions(it still has lights and aux. functions so prob not charging system). I tried spraying some cold start into the intake, and when doing so i could get it to catch momentarilly but it always dies out instantly. I then decided to check the oil to find it almost completely empty, so i filled it up and retried previous steps, to no avail. Anyone have any tips before I have it towed? I'm thinking fuel pump here, and also there arent any real leaks after 2 days of sitting.

How much oil did you have to put in it.  2 quarts to bring it up to norm probably wouldn't have hurt it.  4 quarts then you got problems.  These engines are almost fool proof so it's probably something else.

Can you hear the fuel pump turn on?  I would also check to make sure you are getting spark from the spark plugs.  90% of the time it's a fuel pump or coil pack.
