My stepson just drove into town and said that when he is going 70+ on the interstate, there is a hesitation in his truck that comes and goes.  He has complained about a "noise" in 3rd gear, and now said that he heard something in reverse as well.  Since I only see him once in a while I would have thought that his Dad would take care of it, but I don't want him on the road with a truck that is going to blow up.

Does anyone think that there is something wrong with the transmission, or clutch??  I also had someone tell me that there may be something wrong with the thermostat or fan, which they said may cause the hesitation, but I think it is more with the transmission or clutch.  HELP!!  He goes home on Sunday, and I'm not sure I can let him drive the 300 miles home in this thing.
