Went to test drive one this weekend, and ended up leaving with it. Saleperson said they would give it to me for $7000 off the sticker and no payments til september. Its an LS with the Z71 suspension. It has all the bells and whistles i could want: crew cab, tilt, power locks/windows, leather steering wheel, cd/mp3 player, traction control, towing pkg, I5 cyl 3.5L engine, auto trans, aluminum wheels, Nerf bars, etc....The sticker was brought down to about $21,000. I am happy.

Congrats on the purchase. The Colorado is a pretty good mid-size truck. Probabaly the best fuel economy.

If i had to get a mid-size i'd get a dakota laramie with the 4.7 h.o. v-8.

The dakota is alot more expensive though.

yeah i like the clorados. the crew cabs could be quicker  they have a 10.something 0-60 time  but so does a 4 door dakota with a 4.7

Vettegofast....you nearly gave me a heart attack. I thought you bought the Z71 LS with 4x4 for $21k. I was about to jump off a cliff with my Colorado right behind me. I bought my 2004 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab Z71LS 4x4 for $18k but it had some miles on it (off lease i guess). I love the sunburst orange color and this truck is great in snow. I would definitely recommend this truck to anyone. Good luck with your Colorados.

I currently own a 2001 -10 Crew Cab.  It's been a great truck, but my wife is considering upgrading to a Colorado.  I am looking at a 2006 ext cab 4X4, 4 cyl.  It is a new leftover at the local dealership.  They also have a Z71 4X4 with the 5 cyl.  Now when they first came out, the Colorado was not very popular with the local mechanics.  Can anyone shed any light on how they have improved?

Thanks!

As with any new model vehicle, most technicians are uncomfortable working on them in the beginning. Because they have to read up on procedures on an engine they have not seen before. The only major problem I recall on these engine is valve seals were apparently too soft and they actually had to replace a few hundred head assemblies. But 2005 and later should be fine.

RH,

I read a few threads that indicated there were also some issues with the block or head castings on the I-5.  Any knowlwdge of this?   (My apologies to the OP for the minor hijack)
