2008 Malibu 2.4 L first oil change??

I was wondering about how many miles I should put on my new Malibu 2.4L before doing my first oil change.I did my first on my new 2006 Chevy HHR around 2000 miles and found metal chips in my oil filter.I would like to get Mobil 1 synthetic and K&N oil filter in this baby ASAP.Let me know what you guys think.

There is a lot of debris in all engines,left over from the casting and machining processes. Whenever I buy a new car I give it a nice long run of, say two hundred miles and then change the oil and filter. I,ve never had a problem.
With that said, I also have a ten year old Caddy that was owned by a man who drove them and traded them. It had twenty thousand on it before I gave it it's first oil and filter change. It doesnt burn oil and I have had no problems 167k miles.
