im new here to the website
uh really new to domestic vehicles actually
most of the work i have done has been on japanese cars
(honda and subaru)
but im about to buy a 1990 chevy silverado 1500 from a neighbor for $400
it needs engine work and thats where im hoping yall come into play
right now i just want specs on the truck.
like engine type, size, blah blah
but eventually unless i fix the knocking noise
i might drop a new block into it.
i dont want anything big just maybe the same one just not blown or anything.
if yall could help me out that would be awesome.

Welcome to the forum!! Be patient, gotta give people time to roam around and find your post. You might also want to try posting this question in the Silverado section.

If I'm not wrong you would need to tell us a little more about the truck.
Most likley it has a 350 with a throttle body injection system.
Check out Jasper among others for a rebuilt replacement.
They have both direct replacement and higher performance packages as well.
I chose a 383 stroker for my 95 Tahoe.

Welcome to the forum!!! I didn't see your post when I was on earlier... sorry bout that. Were a fairly slow forum in the growing process. In fact, a year ago it was almost dead.

yeah i have decided not to get the truck
im going to spend a little bit more money and just buy one that runs right away

since im only 16
it would be pretty tough to get it running by myself

but i have found a 1997 silverado Z71
for about $4000
i still cant find anything on the internet
but how much torque/horsepower do the v8 350s stock come with?

A pretty good amount of torque and HP. 350 Vortecs are very strong engines.  Thats a great price too depending on the condition and miles.

I know what you mean....

Silverados are rated at 220 hp... not sure about the torque yet.

*edit*  posted specs in your thread in the Silverado section.
