It just was not made to be fuel efficient , Oh sure you can put ALOT of money into TRYING to get better MPG (and it's just not worth it) Then try towing 10,000 #.

people buy burbans for people movers, and to pull big things while moving a lot of people, they are huge, and gas hogs, thats it just the price you pay for having a big family, like ^^ said you could spend a couple grand on various things but will you get it back, not likely. reminds me of the customer that asked me what the milage was on an H2...I kinda chuckled and he said what is funny, I said 'no offence but if you have to ask THAT you cant afford it sir. People dont buy these for their fuel milage.

To expand on the above comments, Suburbans are very fuel efficient IF YOU FILL THEM WITH PEOPLE. When I drive alone to work in my mini, I get 34 miles per gallon for each person (because I'm alone in the car). When I put 7 people in my Suburban, I'm getting 15 miles per gallon for each person, which is equivalent to 105 miles per gallon if each of those people were in separate cars. Quite fuel efficient, would you say?

I get 17 with my Burb. I get 15-ish with my Jeep CJ7. I got 20 with my Chrysler Town&Country minivan. If I back off the go-pedal a bit and run 65-70 instead of 75-80, I get 18+ mpg. Loaded. I'm planning a cold-air intake with hi-flow filter, should be good for 1-1 1/2 mpg. Not much, but it should pay for itself in a few months. Keep your tires inflated and rotated. Highway treads will net better mpg than off-road tires. Change your oil, trans fluid and axle fluids. Pack your wheel bearings, grease your u joints, keep it clean, change your air filter. Keep it tuned up right, check/clean/gap your plugs, etc. You know where this is going: proper maintenece wil help get you every bit of efficiency your rig is capable of.

The MPG is NOT what was posted on the window sticker. I don't get anywhere near 15-20 on my 2007 Suburban its more like 12-16 with gas. I get 10 with E85 but I enjoy paying .80 per gallon less for it than gas.

I've got cold air intake, exhaust, and a superchip tuner on my 04 burb and I get 19mpg, for the tuner and intake it was $700 for both, and my magnaflow was about another 400 it the 5.3 liter and its a 4x4,
