exhaust/engine noise

jsm -> exhaust/engine noise (2/14/2008 6:03:05 PM)

Have 2007 Yukon XL  SLT 4x4 w/5.3 flex, approx 6 weeks. Don't like exhaust/engine noise in cabin around town , thought it would be quieter. Any way to make quieter in 1000-1800 rpm range without trading it in?  ie new exhaust system  Want it quiet like my 04 Deville. Bought with 21800km on it. Already had windshield washer problem, dents in hood, lousy FM radio reception, and lifter noise problem at startup overnight.Thought the Mobil 1 was causing lifter noise, so changed back to dealer 5w30 after approx 900 km on Mobil1 . No more lifter noise for a few days, but noticed it's back again today, although a much lesser extent ie 1 second or so. Like the truck, but my 03 Venture was way better so far.

You can have a resonater or two put on.
The "lifter" noise is a caracteristic of most Chevrolet V engines (V6s and V8s, not so much on 4s and inlines). Its nothing to worry about. Its not actually the lifters, its the PCV valve.  You'll never get a truck to be as quiet as a DeVille. DeVilles are luxury cars so they are made to be super comfortable and very quiet.

Thanks for input. Your right about it being a truck. Hadn't cosidered that when I bought it.
Just got back from talking to a caddy salesman, he says 6.2 in escalade is way quieter than 5.3 in Yukon. I'm going to find outfor myself by driving one soon. See me on Tahoe sight after this. (ya, I'm a newbie ).
