So I removed the front emblem to replace it with a billet one. This thing doesn't even come close to fitting flush. Has anybody else had this problem? Also is the rear emblem just glued on or is it bolted?

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. I've heard of others who have had fitment issues with the billet bowties. The rear gold portion is glued on to the chrome portion. When removed, it leaves a nice, smooth chrome bowtie with no holes like the front one with the gold removed.

the replacement emblems are a "you get what you get kind of fit." I tried about 3 brands before deciding on the one I have now. It fits the best out of all the ones we've tried. However thanks to "GM" the aftermarket companied are not allowed to produce the "true to spec fitting" bowtie anymore. If you can find old stock somewhere, the AMI (all sales manufacturing) is the one I have up front. Try a search I posted the part number before. I have the chrome version. The rear bowtie is removed like 73Shark suggested. I also painted the gold piece black and take it on and off from time to time.
