Go by an auto parts store and ask them to read the codes.  The service engine light means there's a problem and the code will tell you what the problem is.  All the national chains, Autozone, Oreilly's, Advance Auto, etc will read the codes for free for you.  Tell us what the code or codes are and maybe someone can help you.

I am curious to see what the problem was.  I think I may have the same problem.  My suburban service light came on and all the code states is random multiple misfire.  I have change the plugs and wires and even my mechanic has no idea.  Please let me know what you discovered.

Most likely a leaky intake manifold gasket.
