alright so i have  a 91 suburban with a 78 350 in it. the suburban has a 700r4 6in lift and 33's. The motor is a dog. no power. My goal is to get decent gas mileage ( i know im not goin to get to good in a lifted suburban but hey), have more power, and sound good. im on a budget. this is what ive got so far:

XS Power shorty headers
edelbrock 650cfm carb
edelbrock intake
flowmaster

i have the engine tore apart and this is what i plan to do to it:
heads redone
check measurments on block and if everythings good just hone cylanders
clean up and reuse flat top pistons
lunati cam and lifter( i need help on which one to get)
fel-pro gasket kit

now im not to good on making all these parts work together to give me a strong running long lasting motor
I planed on having decent compression
the heads are stock with no meat taken out yet
Any ideas or help would be apreciated

Mileage is what you ain't gonna get from a '78 motor... but looks like a powerful setup.

Well, sorry to agree with EuroGold, but yeah, you won't get any mileage out of that engine with that truck, the age of the engine has nothing to do with it, though, it's all set up.  However, (i don't know much but what i do know is that) you can build anything you want with that 350. it's a great engine. If you really want to get better mileage i think you need a smaller Carb. But you already bought it and you said you have a budget set. You can also get a lot of power out of that combo.
As for the cam and lifter set: you can find pretty much whatever you need for details on cams out there. just google it. I can't find anything on the net, so i live by google when i am out to sea.
I wish i could give you more info.
