I have a 2006 Chevy 3500 diesel cargo. I developed a leak at the xmission rear shaft area at about 34k. Took it into the dealer and they changed out the rear portion of the xmission, just the short piece the driveshaft slides into....Now I have a vibration that is similar to road noise from bad tires...I just had new tires put on before this repair and all was fine before I took it in......I haven't taken it back in yet but wondered if any factory mechanics here might have and idea of what they might have done wrong putting it back together.....As an aside if I turn in a hard left turn at a decent speed, like and on or off ramp, the noise is really minimal, when straightening back out it comes right back up to a high pitched whine......thx for any input...

After further investigation, jacking up the front wheels and spinning them and checking for play, I find my front right sealed bearing is going out. This van only has 38k miles on it, and I don't drive it hard. Add this to the list of tail shaft seal on xmission leaking, front control arm worn out, radiatior hose leak, and mulitple check engine light codes popping, all of those under warranty, fortunetely. I've always been a Chevy guy, but I'm getting a little bummed here, good thing all the other vans on the market are so ugly, IMO........Rick

Well, I went ahead and bought the part from Napa,$218.00, lifetime warranty. It's not a bad job, took me a little over an hour. Just need a good torque wrench, caliper bolts on the my 1ton are a whopping, 221ft.lbs. Peace and quiet once again. We'll see how long it is before the driver side goes.....[:o]....Rick
