all good reasons for the MPG.

What are the advantages of the 6 speed vs the 4?

2 more gears = less drastic ratio difference between each gear change (close ratio), this results in smother operation and the engine will not fall out of its power band after the transmission selects the next gear.

New features available for the 2009 model year Tahoe are:

6.2L Engine on 2WD and 4WD.
6-Speed Auto Trans (standard).
Heated and Cooled Front Seats.
Integrated BlueTooth for phone.
110V Power Outlet.
Integrated Trailer Brake Control.
Side Blind Zone Alerting System.
XM Real Time Traffic Integrated into Navigation System.

Rumor has it, ZX knows his stuff  so I don't mean to question......

  • Can this be taken to the bank?
  • Possible additions / or removals?
  • Is this true for the Yukon / Denali as well?
  • And a final speculation question - Will these be available when production starts in July / August?  I know sometimes new features are only available months after production start.

The reason I ask is I am (was?) close to buying a 2008 Denali until I read this post!  All of the features (aside from the lane departure, 6 speed and 6.2L) are worth waiting for in my book.

Thanks for the info!  I've been a lurker for a while and just wanted a little clarification.

As in the past some of these items may end up having interim model year availability but as it stands right now they are expected to be offered at the initial time of 2009 model year ordering/production.

Thanks.  I guess I'll just sit back and (im)patiently wait until 2009 order time.

*complaining*

I just found out that they are offering 0% on 2009 Yukons (and other GMT900s?).  Talk about making the decision to wait or not, difficult.

The 0.0% APR is not on 09's it is on 2008 models since the 2009 Yukon and Tahoe are not even out yet.
And the 0.0% is not only offered on 1500 series GMT900 products, not 2500 HD or 3500 HD.

Sorry - this was a poorly written message by me.

What I meant to say is now I'm tempted to get an 08 at 0% vs. waiting for the cool new features of 2009.

I'm torn to say the least!

That's the whole idea behind the incentive.

Dave,

I'm also torn whether to order an '08 Tahoe right now, while I still can, or wait and order an '09 model in May.

Can you tell me if the 5T4 special victory red body parts paint option will be only available on the 1LS models in 2009, just like it is in 2008?  If I could get a 1LT with that option, I'll wait and order an '09 model.  Otherwise I might as well go ahead and order the '08 model I guess.
