I finally got the transplant started this week. I got the motor for my Malibu Classic, out of the truck that it was in this Tuesday. I was mistaken earlier when I thought that the engine was bored out 0.030 over. It has been bored out 0.060 over. so it would be a 412 wouldn't it?    I found out that I need to get a new flexplate and rebuild the carb but the rest is all clean up. I can't remember being this excited in a long time. I am in the process of getting my camera fixed then I will try to post pics here for you to experience my car's heart transplant.

you went 60 over on a 400 block? what are you using for a water pump and radiator? boring that much brings the cylinders very enar the water jacket, so you may face some heat issues.

Yes! I thought of that earlier. I am going to install a set of dual electric fans and I already have a new aluminum radiator. The water pump that was on it is a high volume one, I don't remember what it pumps, but I am going to find out this week. I just got it all cleaned up yesterday and today I put the second coat of "Chevy Orange" on it.
I had a question for you though. This engine was dyno'd at 420 horse with the truck cam in it. I have a couple of parts that I am considering and wanted your opinion.
I have a 3000rpm stall converter and a Fireball cam that has a lift of 0.595". I know that the cam is a wild one and I will probably have to trade the springs and retainers to coop. Then, I wondered about the 3000 stall. How do you think that it would drive with a rebuilt TH 350 and a shift kit? I don't want to get the engine in the car and wish I had installed it or install it and start breaking my drive train.   I got pics of her on the engine stand and will try to post them here in a couple of weeks.
