replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, good pressure now. replaced cap rotare pulgs coil ing mod pick up mod good compression. any ideas thanks 2001 chevy 4.3

Possible theft detterent system problem (VTD Fuel Disable). Try shooting some (go easy) starting fluid while cranking and see if it will light off.

did the starting fuild did nothing, put the plug wire from 3 on 5 and 5 on3 and it back fired up through, put a spark plug light on #1 and it goes bright about every 3 revalations.

Probably an ignition (spark) issue then. The ignition wires may be in the wrong order or the timing is too far out of range. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being a proffesional) how would you rate your mechanical skills? In reference to your PM: Your truck does have an vehicle anti-theft device called Passlock II but this ystem does not include the old style diode embedded in the key.

8 on skills. a gm tech 2 scanner showed no errors either. how do u over ride the diode if it is that way.
