I dont think you can go very wrong in this category as long as you stick to some of the big names. I personally want to get the K&N 63 series (lower on price and K&N says it has the largest gains). But the Volant is good, I have heard good things about the AEM Bruteforce, and the Airraid.

The hp gains for most CAIs occur at the upper rpm band.  Take a look at the Trueflow system.  They have an informative video on their website.

It has been said the GM intake provides the best output througout the RPM range.  However, they are pricey but they look great with the chrome lid.

Im running a TrueFlow XDI. I like it......Did I see any real horsepower gains? Maybe, Maybe Not.....I did however see a difference in the intake temp on my Edge module. The intake temp runs at or near the ambient air temp while driving.  At idle it does increase +/- 5-10 degrees. At about 3500 RPM it sounds like the whistle of the supercharger on my Cobra R but just a little (ok.... a lot) quieter. I opened the system up with about 7500 miles on it to see how the inside on of the tube looked. I must say that there was no film, oil, or dust leading into the intake. Overall I've been quite impressed with the quality and filtration of the Trueflow products.

I went with the 63 series from K&N.  It is definitely louder than stock, that's for sure, and it was also easy to install.  I don't regret it one bit.
