Check engine light... - 1/30/2008 12:58:54 PM    highvan   Posts: 3 Joined: 1/30/2008 Status: offline I've ran the test on my 96 cavalier and it's coming back that my gas cap isn't tight enough,  so my check engine light comes off and on... My question is, is there an easy way or any way for that matter, to just unhook or cut a wire to just disable the check engine light? Do the smart thing and fix the problem. I am assuming you have an Evap Emissions code (small leak probably), and that code can be anything from a bad gas cap to a leaking charcol canister. Do the smart thing and take it to a shop where they can smoke test the Evap system and tell you what's leaking, and fix it. (in reply to Mr. Cavalac) Post #: 4
