I just went on chevrolet.com and was able to build a 2wd truck with the Z71 suspension and badging. It just gives the truck upgraded shocks, locking rear diff and skid plates!

oh dont get me started on lifting 2wd! WHY! just for looks?! they spend a crap load of money on a badass-looking lift, when they could have spent that money (probably less) on a truck that actualy functions offroad! I understand wanting to "look" badass, but to me badass is a truck getting squirlly in the mud n whatnot, not just sitting there looking pretty!AAH! hell, give me the money...

Ha ha yeah I lost money on this one and some humiliation when i pulled out a caolorado z71 that was 2 wheel drive, and I bet him it was 4wd cuz of the z71 stickers. Chevy owes me 50 bucks for this one!

wow. uterly useless. someone needs to go slap those guys at Chevy who thought up that grand idea. Now my Z71 decals mean pretty much nothing! kinda like with my car: 2006 and older nissan altimas with the 3.5L (vice the 2.5L) were the only ones with stock daul exhaust. thats the way people new my car was better than their weak sauce. but, noooo, in 2007 nissan wants to take that away from me and make em all with dual exhaust. Now Chevy. What the hell.

You boys forgetting that most of the SCORE Baja 1000 off-road race trucks are 2WD. 4-Wheel-Drive has to do with driving thru mud, snow and sand and hillclimbing but it has little to do with bustin 80mph across the desert although you will need a good suspension for that.

Z71 is just a trim package. It doesn't define whether its a 2wd or 4wd. Its just that the Z71 package was primarily 4wd until 2000, and everyone associates Z71 with off-roading. Thats why the newer trucks don't have "OFF-ROAD" under the Z71 badge anymore.

Hey zx those are $150,000 trophy trucks, a long cry from a $6,000 2wd fulsize with a 6 inch lift. As for me I have the best of both worlds, My 4 door 05' 4wd sierra is getting a long travel kit as we speek should be done by the middle of next month fox coilovers, bypass, and bumpstops up front, deaver leafs and fox bypass in the rear, glassworks fiberglass fenders and bedsides, 930 buggy axles for the front cv's. Dixon Brothers Racing in Lompoc, Ca is building it, look em up
