rough idle or electrical problem

6camaro9 -> rough idle or electrical problem (1/25/2008 9:09:32 AM)

my 01 burb started acting up where it was running rough with a low idle. i did a search on the internet and
found a solution that the throttle body needed cleaning. i did a cleaning of it and my burb ran great for
several weeks, fast forward to last night. it start acting up again running with a low idle and notice that
the odometer and radio display started flickering. took it to the dealership the next morning and to my
surprise it wasn't doing it, still went to the dealership. they tell me that the throttle body and injectors
need cleaning, along with a new computer program (for low idle) to the sum of $350. i'm not so sure their
solution is the correct one. anybody have any other ideas?

Bad electrical ground?

Well, I would check the grounding straps that go to the block from the body first of all.  Also the ground strap from the battery negative post.

that could be it i had to replace the battery about a month ago. i won't be
able to look until monday, the burb is still at the dealership. they're still trying
to duplicate the problems i have. another thing that happen i went to lock
the vehicle with the keyless fob and nothing happen. i open the door so i
could push the lock button and noticed that none of the interior lights
came on. so i started the burb and turned off just to make sure that it
would still run. i decided to take it back to the dealership and everything
works fine. isn't that always the case craps out on me but at the dealership
nothing shows up.

thanks..

Be sure to check that battery cable on both ends.  It can look tight and feel tight, and still not have a good enough connection.  It's got to be REALLY tight at the battery.  While you are at it, check for any corrosion on the cable too.  Good luck.
