I have a 350 and im not sure what year the motor is. The number on the back is 3970010 and the number on the front of the block is v0815tja. If anyone could help me out with finding out the year and possibly what its out of let me know.

That 3970010 casting number was used numerous years. I think about 6 or 7 years (some 327s have it) and it is an early to mid '70s number. There should be a date code on the passanger side of the bellhousing flange. Also the 350 blocks with this casting number came with 2 or 4 bolt main caps.
