My girlfriend just bought a 1999 Cavalier with the 2.2L I4. It's got 150,000 on it.

1. What are somethings to look out for?

2. When the RPMS get to about 4k-4.5k they got nuts and there is a clunking sound. The mechanic at the shop said that it is the rev limiter, but they are going to replace the plugs anyways. I'm not convinced its the rev limiter and wanted to know if anyone knew what this was. I've looked a little on the net and I can't seem to find the answer.
