This can be caused by a faulty fuel pump wire connector, has the fuel pump and connector ever been changed that you know of?
In rare cases it can be a bad pump or a short in wiring usually the fuel pump wires near the frame.

i had the same problem in my 01 which made it blow the ecm b fuse a couple times,i do know their was a recall on fuel pump set up for suburban models which had a faulty wire problem inside the tank which grounded out the system mayb this is the problem that you r having.
