I have recently purchased a 1999 Chevrolet K1500 Suburban LT with Z71 stickers. Could anyone please help me with identifying this vehicle as Z71? I cannot find any information on the Z71 option offered for a 1999 Suburban. Was this a special order? I have the original window sticker which lists $11,135 in options including off road skid plate and fuel tank shield which I think gives it the Z71 designation(not sure about that). I have tried Kelly Blue Book but Z71 is not listed as a Suburban option until the 2001 model year. For 1999 it only lists LT or LS. KBB also does not list the off road skid plate or fuel tank shield as options either. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If it has a Z-71 package, then the original sticker should state it very clearly. I suspect that someone put the stickers on the truck. I don't remember in what year Chevrolet started puttign the Z-71 package on the Suburban. I remember seeing a lot of Suburbans at a Chevy dealership in Jackson Mississippi with Z-71 stickers. The dealer was creating their own Z-71 version of the Suburban.

The Z71 option was made available, best I can tell, on the 2001 Suburbans. The LT package is listed on the sticker, but not the Z71 package-just the equipment. I would suppose, if what alabama says is true about Jackson, that the options that make a 4X4 a Z71 were dealer installed options rather than a factory installed package. If that's the case, the dealer probably put the stickers on. Either way, I love this truck. I was just wandering because I never gave it any thought but lately I've been looking around and haven't seen any other Suburbans of that body style with the Z71.

Just open up the glove box and inside you will find a white sticker with a bunch of 3 letter/number postings. They should be in alphabetical order and are called RPO codes. They tell all the options like which motor, suspension, extrac options, etc. If it's a z71 then you should find it somewhere on that sticker. GM uses RPO codes alot to describe vehicles like z06, z71, z28, zq8, ls1, lt1, etc.
