I already searched the forums here and couldn't find any information on this issue. I have also checked other sites and found a few different issues but none of which were either the same or had a solution listed.

I recently aquired a 95 suburban and it hasn't been inspected in two years because of an issue with the head lights. Basically the low beams don't work but the high beams do.

IE.
-Turn light switch on, parking lights on -- no head lights
-Pull turn signal stalk backwards for brights, lights come on, indicator comes on
-Pull back again, turns off

I looked at ALL fuses, every one of them is fine.
I checked all fuses with multimeter, all are fine.
I checked the connections at the bulbs, no power.
Bulbs are brand new in perfect condition. The case is the same with both left and right lights.

Any ideas or suggestions? I am leaning towards a light switch but I don't believe it is the issue (but obviously I don't know). The switches function properly in every other fashion -- ie. parking lights, dimmer, dome light, brights, windshield washer, etc.

Thanks :)

The high/lo beam switch is part of the multifunction switch (turn signal lever).  It's not uncommon for this part to go bad.  Check also the connectors on the switch wiring inside the steering column.

I found out what the problem is, the wire that goes into the multifunction switch was frayed and now is no longer connected. My big question is, how the hell do I remove the light switch assembley, or even just the plug that goes into it. I don't think you should have to remove the steering wheel but...? If I need to do this how can I disable the airbag so I don't make it deploy (is it the SIR yellow wire? do I need to just disconnect this wire first?).

Thanks!

I ended up just soldering the wire with the switch in the car, thanks for the help.
