First of all thanks for all your help in advance. I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado, 2WD V6 4.3L. As I was at a stop light, my truck shut off and would not restart. Take it to dealer and instantly he states "Fuel Pump" Next day I get a call, they want $980 for a GM(life) or $875 for a Napa (1yr). I tell them NO WAY!. $90 later for the diagnosis, He states that it is now driveable but the ECM fuse may blow again. After 1 week of driving about 100 miles, I was sitting idle in a parking lot and truck shuts off again. Another Blown ECM fuse 20amp. Change fuse and truck starts up and is still running (4 days). Fuel Gauge is constantly flickering from 1/4 to full. Check engine light came on right before this all happened but since dealer got a hold of it, there are no caution lights on. I don't understand how I can even drive it at all with a bad fuel pump. Hope someone has some answers. Thanks

John

Most of the time the GM fuel pumps will slowly die. By slowly I mean they will either work or not work but won't just die and never start back up. That's why when it happens you can sometimes bang on the gas tank and get the pump to kick back on.

You can probly search around on ebay/local parts stores and do it yourself for alot cheaper. Have to take the bed off which is the hardest part of it all. If you do it yourself make sure you change the fuel filter at the same time.

Once you find a pump, good luck... Get a few buddies and take the bed bolts out and have your friends help you lift the bed. You only have to sit it back about two feet. You can rest it on the tire and the bumper. I hope this is understandable.

Fuel filter is a ten minute job.

good luck.
