Depends how much work you want to do, what you are looking to gain, how you are going to use the vehicle and how much $ you want to spend. If you are looking for a little more power, there are a lot of 350 engines available out there which provide the least amount of work. Of course you can get a lot of power out of a 350 if you want to spend the $. At some point you will need to evaluate the rest of the drivetrain if you are going to add a bunch of juice. I recently swapped the original 350 in my '96 Tahoe with a Jasper Class 1 350 which adds about 10-15 HP. Actually I was suppossed to get a Class 2 engine...but that's another story. I plan to replace the Class 1 350 in the near future and am evaluating my options right now. I am seriously considering a 383 stroker to get the added power and the torque of the longer stroke. The 383 is a drop in other than sending the computer in for some reprogramming.
