I have a 2003 Trailblazer LTZ 4X4 (4.2 L).  Anyone know what the oil capacity is?  I bought oil from autozone and they told me 5 Quarts.  I changed the oil and filled with the 5 quarts, it did not even read on the dipstick.  I filled it with one more quart and it read add a quart.  So I filled it with 1 more quart.  7 quarts of oil in a V6???  There was no oil on the ground or anything, so there are no leaks.  I have driven it for 3,000 miles and am about to change the oil again.  I checked the oil every gas stop and it still reads full.  It just seems odd to me for it to take that much oil!

I had a 2002 and it took seven quarts but it was a straight six.  Not sure what a V6 would take but would add 'til the dipstick says it's full.  I didn't know they switched to a V6 tho.  I knew the extended wheelbase could be had w/ a V8 and the SS also.  Are you sure it's a V6?

Sounds about right. With big trucks & SUV's they usually take a larger quantity of oil capacity as opposed to smaller to mid-size vehicles. My brother's F-350 Diesel takes about 8 quarts of oil. That thing is a beast!! hahaha.

You are correct, it is a straight 6.  That is probably why it takes 7 quarts.  Thanks.

You're welcome.  Always thought it was unusual for it to hold more oil than my 07 Tahoe (holds 6 qts).  Go figure.
