OK, I have about 5,000 miles on my new 2007 NBS Crew cab Z-71 5.3 w/ active fuel. I have 305/50/20 tires, and my gas mileage sucks! I am seeing around 14 on a good day! I had the same exact wheels & tires on my 05 crew cab Z-71 and it did way better! The gas mileage was the main reason I bought this new truck and I am very disappointed! People have said it's the wheels and tires but that is hard to believe for me, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I would say in no means am I qualified to know how to fix your problem but
I do know there are some things that will cause Excessive Fuel Consumption. They are

Dirty air filter.
Dirty injectors.
Incorrect Ingition timming.
Incorrect Idle Speed.
Fuel Leekage. (Most likly on your return line.)

I have the same mileage on my 07 2wd LT2 with 275/55/r20 and have gotten 13 in town and 17-18 hwy.  I haven't been too impressed and hope that maybe it might improve a little.

I've been driving with the instant mpg on the odometer and its driving me mad trying to get anything better no matter how much I baby it.

I tend to think that this tire & wheel combination have too much mass and sap mpg.

That seems about right for city driving.  I dont think you going to get much better with a 6000 lb vehicle.

Well, I traded my wheels and tires for the factory 18's. We'll see if that makes a difference. BTW- the 14 was all highway, which is not what the truck is advertised to get.

You'd better take it in. I get about 17 on the highway with mine. Coworker gets 19 on the highway.

Dude, it it your wheels and tires. I have an 07 Tahoe with the same engine. I tried to put 275x65x18 on mine and it dropped the gas big time. The 4/8 cylinder mode stuck in 4 banger mode all the time. So I had to put the same size that came on it.............and u know what, its still not like the stock ones. I don't know what it is but it sucks. I fell for u ................... I'm still pissed
