I've just purchased a 2007 silverado crew cab with 5.3 engine, and I'm wondering if its wise to try to tow my 2006 dodge charger across the states, I'll also have a Yamaha Raptor 700 that I will carry.  I'm in the military and I'm stationed in Washington State, and I'm about to transfer over to Fort Bragg NC.  This is my first truck and I'm trying to get the best advice on towing my other vehicle.  Thanks for your help!

I would think that that info would be in your owners manual, if not someone at the dealership should be able to tell you. Another thing to keep in mind is the rating of the reciever and hitch you use, most factory class III recievers (that I have seen) are rated at 4000#s dead weight and 10000#s if using a weight distributing hitch, which can make a differnce on how you tow. my dad found this out when he went to pick up a '72 1500 (which weights all most 3.5 tons) that my grandfather was giving to my younger brother. He drove from Ca to Mo with his flat bed rated at 10 tons with a dead weight hitch, well when he got there and relized how heavy both the trailer and the truck were together, he had to go buy a weight distbuting hitch which cost $$$, just to get home. Any way back to your problem, if you are going to just pull or use a front wheel dolly you should be fine. If you are planning to put the charger on a flat bed you may need to check the rating on your reciever. Oh, and if you plan to tow a flat bed you may need to install a trailer brake, just a heads up.

It would be much easyer if you just put the charger on a car dolly, if your willing to, and put your wheeler up in the back of your truck.  I had to do this with my truck with our 76 cutless and my friends wheeler from Florida all the way up to Superior Wisconsin.  No problems pulling at all for a 5 liter 305.

check remco towing for the towability for all four wheels down ,you might need a lube pump ,driveshaft disconnect ,or axel lock and the  wet weight of the car it can go from 800.00 to 2500.00 to set one up to tow all four down .and weather you can use a tow dolly .(car trailer}
