gulfstream -> Chevy 30 Van Auto trans stuck in 1st gear (1/7/2008 2:36:11 PM)

Hi, Chevy 6.2L Van 30, 1992, 10,000 miles, auto trans.
Park and reverse ok but will only drive in first gear, like it's stuck. This happened two years ago and there was a shorted wire under the hood somewhere which had blown a fuse! Have checked this of course but all ok this time.
Any ideas, folks? Cheers.
