my 02 silverado doesnt have fog lights so i was about to order some aftermarket fog lights: ( http://stores.channeladvisor.com/DoctorAutoParts/Items/Item.aspx?itemid=9321438 ) which are the same as the OEM fog lights but i want to install HID's into the fog light and since this fog light housing is made out of plastic, i was concerned that the heat from the HID bulb will melt the fog light lense and housing. does anybody have any info on this?

It shouldn't put out much more heat than normal bulbs.

Many HAVE melted their housing with HIDs.  It is an issue with the newTahoe plastic housing.

i've been doing some searching on different housings...i found one which is made out of die cast aluminum coated with silver. hopefully this one would do the job unless the plastic aftermarket OEM copy-cat won't melt for sure its about 45 bucks cheaper...
so in a nut shell, which one do you guys think i should go for?
take a look at each of them if u dont mind:
Aftermarket OEM copy (all plastic): http://stores.channeladvisor.com/DoctorAutoParts/Items/Item.aspx?sck=7402480&itemid=9321438

Aluminum housing coated in silver with glass lense: http://www.everythingoffroad.com/index.htm?itemqts.958s.html

let me know what you guys think.
thanks for your feedback

I bought mine from here:
http://automotivelightstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=184

Theses HID are more efficient than halogen and run cooler than the stock bulbs even though they are xenon. Had mine in for 9 moths no problems with melting at all.

Also had the Halos installed:
