Anyone ever mount Nitto Terra Grapplers on their ‘burban? I’m looking to get a set (265/75) for my wife’s K2500. I use it for hauling my tractor around and will eventually be hauling cars about 3-4 times a year. Definitely nothing heavy duty but still I’m interested to know if anyone has used these tires in these types of situations on their truck.
 
I’m also hoping against all hope that these will be decent in mud. I’m not expecting anything great here but after getting stuck in an OPEN, FLAT field with the crappy LTX’s on their now my mind was made up. No way I’m going through winter with those junk tires.
 
I noticed the TG’s have some sidewall wraparound for mud, and are pretty heavily siped for ice/rain. The other thing I like about them is they appear to have pretty good water evacuation channels. The BF TA’s I used to run on my ’99 Silverado would hydro pretty bad in heavy rains and standing water.
 Just curious is anyone has them and has opinions on them.

Dont blame ya on the LTX's. I personally think they are junk. As for the TG's only ones i ever seen used were a set of 33's on a jeep. They do ride pretty nice on the street as they arent really agressive but they still do offer some pretty decent grip. As far as water and hydroing, you probably will be a little better than the BFG's but dont expect any significantly huge differences. In the mudd and in the fields though you should be a little better. It grabbs and slings mudd away pretty well but just watch out for clay, it will make those tires act like slicks in nothin flat. Also keep in mind at the size you are running its still a narrow tire and its a heavy 'burban so as a general rule of thumb keep the truck moving to keep on top of the slop and if ya gotta stop, find firmer ground.

Thanks for the input. I know they are still a pretty narrow tire but I'm compromising [:)] If I had my 'druthers I'd put a 6" lift and some 325/75 on it. The gas would kill me though. At 10 mpg it's not like I'm doing great now but I can't imaigine what some "real" tires would do.

And for anyone interested I got them from a local place called Jordan's Tire in Newcomerstown, OH. Killer price, more than $80 less than NTW in Wheeling, WV and they had the best price I could find until today. I'm going to pick them on the 26th and have them mounted here in town.

LOL, yeah, with burbans you fight the loosing battle against gas mileage. Makes me not feel so bad about my 14MPG. Its unfortunate though that ya really cant get a wider tire in some of the smaller diameters. I think the best ive seen to date is an Interco TSL 29x12.5 r15 but no one wants to ride on those (can we say rolling tractor).

Last I checked, the Nittos are only available in large rim sizes. I'm not impressed with the tead design. They look neat, but I would not take them in the mud, they look more like a sand tire, but with an 18 or larger rim, I wouldn't take them in the dunes either.

I would sugest to look for a good truck tire with mud and snow rated tread. www.tirerack.com has a good comparison function. You can look up tires and their ratings my folks who use them, as well as warranty ratings.

You will want a heavier duty tire than a recreational tread anyway. I would suggest something like a Goodyear Silent Armor. Look for the severe weather rating stamp on the sidewall. That will give you a good tire that will work, last and grip.

The Nitto's I'm looking at are load range E so the strength should be there. I agree the tread is somewhat odd. I would much rather have something like the BF TA's but they aren't a mud tire either and they don't move water. I believe the TG's are M+S rated so again, without trying them I can't say if they are worthy of it but they have the rating. I was hoping to get feedback from some people who have used them though, especially on a 'burb and in hauling situations as well as light off roading.

They are available in 16" which is stock for my 'burban so I don't have to buy any expensive wheels. Unfortunately TireRack doesn't appear to offer these so there is no feedback on there. I did find a couple of dedicated off road sites that had reviews and all of them ranked these at the top, some higher than the TA's even. I figure it's worth a shot. I'll be sure to post back if I find out anything out of the ordinary though.

That works. I was worried about the load range, but that should be plenty. I guess they expanded their sizes since I last looked at them (last year or so when they first came out).

Sounds good then! I agree on the BFG's, nice for dirt and snow, but not for mud or water.
