i have the '03 2500HD with a 6.0L. I have been told by a few of my buddies that my truck has the allison transmission. is there anyone that can confirm these claims or give me any ways to confirm this myself?

Look inside the glove box. On the inside of the door, there's a list of codes which tells you your vehicle's options. Here are the codes for the various transmisisons.

MG5

Transmission Manual 5-Speed, Getrag, 84mm, 4.00 1st, O/D

ML6

Transmission Manual 6-Speed ZF, 105mm, 5.79 1st, 0.72 6th, O/D

MT1

Transmission Auto 4-Speed HMD 4L80-E

MW3

Transmission Manual, 5-Speed, NVG, 109mm, 5.61 1st, O/D

M1F

Power Take Off Rear PTO

M30

Transmission Auto 4-Speed, HMD, 4L60-E, Electronic

M32

Transmission Auto 4-Speed, HMD, 4L60-E, Electronic, HD

M74

Transmission Auto 5-Speed, Allison, LCT 1000, 3.10 1st, 1.00 4th, 0.71 5th, O/D, Conversion Clutch

M96

Transmission Manual 5-Speed, Tremec, 109mm, 5.81 1st, 0.77 5th

None of the 6.0L engines were built with an Allison transmission, your truck has the 4L80E.
Only the 8.1L (in Silverado and Seirra) and the 6.6L Duramax had the Allison.

thanks guys. i didnt think that it would but when i heard that there was the possibilty it got my curiosity going a lil.
