Who knows. They said they would limit production of the base model and increase the production of the higher-end model, last I heard.

Why would you think that?  I think the sales are going to be big.

The sales will big big at first only and then die way down just like when the SSR came out.
The problem is with four door performance cars, and the aging population there is just not as many people with a demand for that type of vehicle.  Most of the people who want that type of car are either enthusiasts or kids, and kids cant afford them.  A guy in his 30's may want one but he cant take his kids and their friends to soccer practice in it so he is out unless he can afford one as a second car but not many guys can do that.  So he opts for a Charger if his wife will let him get it.
Once the enthusiasts put one in their garage demand really drops.  Therefore if there is no limit on production it makes demand even less because the lots fill up and the car loses its "star quality".
Mustangas are doing pretty good right now because they are the only car in that segment.  But with the Camaro and the Challenger coming soon that market is going to be split in three.
To bad the cost of cars has gone up so much because if more people could afford the V8's I bet we would see more around town.

I don't think there is any chance a camaro will make it to the streets of Asia or Europe.  They have their classes of vehicles, and I don't think they're ready for that kind of American muscle - not to mention whether or not the vehicle would meet their emissions standards.

Yeah. Europe is all over the supercar market and they don't sell very WELL as it is. They would rather buy a VW Golf or a Mini Cooper.

hey guys I am new here, but it is not Chevy that will rape you on the price. It is the greedy ass dealers. They killed off the new GTO by putting $5000-10000 markup on the for "market adjustment". THere is a delaer in Orlando that has a $10,000 "additional dealer profit" in Orlando on one of the 888 new G8's. The dealer here in Colorado Springs has a $2000 markup on all Solstices here. THey will not even thank about doing GM supplier pricing or GM employee pricing on them. So please do not blame the manufacture. Blame your greedy ass salepeople.

Well, Chevy sets the MSRP, the dealers do the negotiating... you are exactly right.

Chevrolet will appears to be choking-up on initial production of the Camaro, but will start producing more as soon as they get “tooled up”, there’s only room for one high end muscle car and Corvette’s it for Chevrolet.

Camaro will still be a “high/mid” muscle car, think Impala Monte Carlo on steroids (steroids optional), just remember if there’s a Camaro there’s Firebird, but the Corvette stands alone.

With the way things are in the market today it’s hard to say whether or not dealers will be able to get away with such heavy mark-ups, but I’m sure they will try.

That’s just the way it looks to me.
