chevy4x4 -> xm satellite (12/6/2007 6:50:29 AM)

I own a 2005 chevrolet 4x4 w/o xm. I want to add the xm satellite antenna and hookup. GM is wanting to charge me 437.00 to upgrade me. Is this unreasonable?

Welcome to the Forum.  Try doing a search.  There are several threads on this subject on how to do it yourself and save some $$$$$

You can either get a XM kit that uses a FM modulator to broadcast the signal over low frequency radio waves or buy an after market AM/FM, CD player with XM tuner built in.  Otherwise you'll spend quite a bit on updateing the factory system for XM.  You can get a radio, CD player with XM built in for $250.  FM modualtor setup, like $50-$60 I think.
