I want to do some sort of tune for my tahoe, but can not decide which would be more beneficial.

Edge Performance:
I like this one because of how you can switch from different power modes, and I think it has a fuel economy mode. It seems to have alot which you can adjust. Edge performance claims 40 hp and 38 lbs of torque which sounds pretty nice to me. I also like how you have the mountable pod, and it can be removed at any point.

Dyno Tune:
I think the software used at the place I would go is HP tuners. I have heard that you get better result from a dyno tune simply because they reset your engines parameters opposed to the EDGE which is a general setting for all tahoes (not sure if this is 100% true). But the one negative thing is that when you go into the dealerships to get serviced if they reset your computers you loose all the new changes (once again not positive). Is there some sort of route around this? Also, do you see any changes in the fuel economy with this?

I guess what Im asking is the dyno tune substantially better that the EDGE, and which one y'all recomend.

Thanks for the help!

I'd be just a little skeptical about a 40 hp increase unless they could show some actual dyno runs.  That's about a 12% increase.

I have a Superchips.  It has an 87 octane, a tow, and a performance tune (93 octane).  Plus adjustable engine parameters and shift points.  Also can do data acq.

I have to agree, but even if its half that, its stills about what Superchips is claiming.

Where exactly do you mount the superchips tuner? Or do you plug it in, and do the changes and remove it?

EDGE does have a dyno sheet:

No where on that chart looks like a 40hp increase, lol.  I have the Edge and I'm pleased with it.  Throttle response feels a little better, but it still lacks where I want the most power, on hill climbs.  Driving up to the mountain still disappoints me so I may buy a new ecu and have it tuned, and keep the old ecu on hand if i ever need to swap out and take it in to the dealer.

It plugs into the diagnostic link connector a la a code scanner.  You make changes then take it off unless you are monitoring data.  I haven't tried that feature yet.

How is it going everyone?  I just recently installed the diablosport, which I got for free....nice.  I have noticed a significant difference between the two.  I have a lot more get up and go and extra hp when I need it.  Response from acceleration is better shift points are much improved.  I went back to stock to see the difference and then went back to performance tune and you can notice the difference.  There are a few more parameteres that you can change, but I have not done any of them yet.  You can download a log sheet to your PC and check the ratio's.  Much more than I info than I can comprehend.  If anyone out there knows air/fuel ratio, idle control, fan control, etc.  Please let me know if I should change anything.

Edge seems like a sketchy site, if you look at the dyno results for an 07 silveardo 5.3 liter (which has over 300 hp) and take a look at the dyno results, its the EXACT same charts.... http://www.edgeproducts.com/product_images/product_variation-dyno_pdf-258.pdf
