i have a 2005 chevy colorado, today my heater blower switch quit working on all settings except for #4 the highest ?? does anyone know what it might be, ex: the switch or motor control or the blower or what? id really appreciate any ideas on what it might be or what to do to figure it out so i can get it fixed really quick its really cold this time of year. It does heat up and does blow on #4 but not any other settings. thanks spencer.

sounds like the blower motor resistor is either burnt up or the blower motor resistor harness. i've replaced a few of those that have gotten hot and melted the terminal at the connector. usually u have to replace both harness and resistor.

9 times out of 10 it will be your blower motor resistor.  Very simple fix.

i replaced the resistor 2x and now the dealer wants to diagnose the truck, why does it keep overheating the resitor. i found that the harness actually wiggles loose because of gravity. just a poor design. try wiggling the harness on the resistor with the selector on 1,2 or 3, bet it starts.
