I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with 175,000 miles.  The defroster and heater are not blowing very hard throught the vents and the air is not very hot.  I have changed the cabin filters.  If I switch to A/C it blow hard and cold.  I noticed when the defroster is on, it sounds like the compressor is trying kick in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont really know a fix for this problem but my 01 chev 1500HD seems to have the same problem. I removed the air filters, and it seemed to help a bit, but it still dosent blow as good as most vehicles seem to. Hopefully someone has an idea!!!!

How come no one knows where these filters are? I have an '98 and just replaced my blower with one from autozone for $49 with a lifetime warranty. Works like a champ now. If you find out where that filter is be sure to let me know.

sorry accidently posted in wrong thread thats similar

On my 99 Silverado you remove the black casing below the dash which is mostly on the passenger side. I think it was five screws. Once removed you'll see the filters on the passenger side. There's two that slide in a slot. Have to remove bottom support bracket (one screw).
