Any ideas or ways to improve my gas milage on a 2005 silverado I just got, extended cab 4x4, 5.3, with 27000 miles on it. I have been driving it rather conservative and still getting only 13 or 14 mpg? This seems kinda low in my opinion, I'm not looking for dramatic increase or anything, but looking more for 16 maybe 18 mpg? I don't know just wondering if you have any easy suggestions I could use that might save me money, other than driving style, cause I am already trying to do that one. Thanks.

I used a bed cover to get another 1 mpg. It was just a soft roll up, but it saved gas! Also, you can get "cold air intake" on E-bay for around $50.

The code in my glove box is GU6 which is 3.42 gears I believe, so I think I should be getter better, im getting like 13 mpgs, but hard to check the past few weeks, cause using 4x4 in the snow up north.

The biggest factor in gas milage is your right foot. Keep it less then half throttle and i bet you'll see an increase.

I have been doing that with the throttle certainly, and haven't seen an increase at all---but its hard to tell cause its winter time and all, hopefully it will improve next spring, or have to come up with some other things to improve it, thanks.

Since it is winter, your vehicle idles a lot more also known as 0 mpg. That brings your average down a lot. Hopefully when the weather get nicer your mpg will go up as well.
