So the 4l60e in my 94 k1500 is all fekkered up. I was hauling my buddies 63 chevy, when OD sliped and went out then 3rd did the same, now it's lucky when i can get her into 2nd, but it does sometimes, mostly after its been sitting. This indecicivness of the trans makes me think maybe its the electronic controls. First question, do y'all think that might be the case, or is it definatly internals?

Assuming i do have to swap the trans... I have the 4l60e with the one piece case (no bolt on bellhousing). I should be able to swap it with one that has the bolt on bellhousing, correct? Also, if i was to get a 4l65e instead, it's a direct swap, with no programming, correct?

ok i reply to myself, i've seen a couple posts where folks had the same problem (my speedometer crapped out at the same time as the trans) and a couple of them fixed the problem by simply doing some rewiring from the vss to the pcm. SOoooooo.... i'm so excited i cant sit still. i wanna do it now!

So i fixed it! The wiring was fine, but the actual VSS was no good. So i swapped it, and VOILA!!! I guess what happened is this: I was hauling the other truck, wich caused enough pressure in the tail housing to spray fluid through the seals... and mess up the sensor. I'm so happy now... of course while I was fixing that problem, i developed a new problem. The power locks and drivers side door latch dont work, I got it shut, but it won't open. I guess I'm crawling in the other side for now!
