BCS

Jennymae -> BCS (12/3/2007 6:43:50 AM)

I've been saying this for years, but once again the BCS voters have shocked me in the standings.  I'm obviously an OU fan, and yes we had two losses, but so did LSU. Yes we lost at home, so did LSU.  Then this past saturday we played Mizzou (for the second time this season) for the Big 12 championship.  Mizzou was a 3pt dog in the game and the Sooners beat them by almost 30!!!  So we beat the number one team in the nation and LSU gets the chance at the national title.  It's good that we still get to go to a BCS bowl, I just think once again there are teams (not just mine) that should have been placed a little better than what they were.  Okay my rant is done, lol.

oh yeah btw, Boomer Sooner

Until a playoff system is put in place (Never going to Happen in my opinion) the BCS is the best system for now.  Back in the old days the number 1 team might play number 8.

I agree that it's the best system and the playoffs will probably never happen, but I still think the voters are a little biased on who they vote where.

I thought OU showed Mizzou that they were the real deal.  I was disappointed that MU didn't play better but OU just put it on them. [:(]  At first I was upset[:@] that KU got the Orange bid but then when I thought more about it, I think the Cotton is a better deal.[:)]  Get to play against a better team, it's a lot closer so more fans can go, and it's fertile football recruiting area.

Hope the Big 12 wins all of their bowl games.   Even KU.[8|]

As far as the BCS goes, money talks & BS walks.[:'(]

Stovebolt -> RE: BCS (12/6/2007 11:22:34 AM)

I know this may sound goofy, but as a Canadian, our colleges and universities aren't incuded in the BCS. So my question is......what is the "BCS"? I hear them talk about it on the TV, but the never say what the acronym stands for.

73shark -> RE: BCS (12/6/2007 2:46:41 PM)

All I know is it stands for "Bowl Championship Series".  They use some kind of formula for matching teams in the top bowls, one of which is to determine the national championship but like all things relying on formulas, it's flawed IMO.

Stovebolt -> RE: BCS (12/7/2007 12:34:21 PM)

Thats how teams get their rankings, right? Doesn't sports writers? give the rankings? It's all very confusing to us in the North.[:D]

I don't pretend to understand it.  Check this and maybe will answer your questions:http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfootball/
