Ive got a 2000 jimmy and i just bought a set of Envoy HID head lights. I have a set of factory GMC ballast for them but no bulbs and only one ignitor/bulb holder. does anyone know if you can or how to retro fit the envoy head lights with an aftermarket HID kit. (IE) I want to use D1s or D2s bulbs and hella or phillips ballasts from a bmw or such or just an aftermarket HID kit with D1S or D2S bulbs. I want to do this cuz the parts I need from GMC total close to $700 new and I would think around $300 to 400 used and i could get a retro kit for about $150 with Hella parts not junk. Dose any one know what type of bulb got used in the 98-2000 envoy hid lights I cant find them any where but the dealer and the dealer near me wont give me a bulb # D2S...thanks for any imput

You need a D2C or possibly a 9005 conversion. I'm not sure as to whether the Envoy has the D2 of the 9005, but I have links to both.

ok so im done with the retrofit. The envoy dose not use either the d2s or d1s bulb. the bulb is unique to the envoy only and there is no way to mix and match parts. what I did is to make up 2 plates to mount a d1s bulb to the envoy headlight if anyone ever wants detals let me know and ill send or post picks. I went with d1s because they were cheap I got osram bulbs and ballast for 110 shiped and spent 125 on the envoy lights and another 50 on aluminium plate and 2 hole saws and then sealed everything with o-rings and a little silicone.
