2004 Chevy Malibu Keyless Remote Troubles

I just bought a used 04 Malibu with keyless remote entry and starter.  I bought this from a dealer and everything with the keyless remote worked fine with the lock, unlock, trunk, and starter.  I drive it away and now I cannot get the remote to work at all.  It shows a lock and theft security system light on the dash but I can't get anything on the remote to work.  I tried changing the battery to no avail.

Am I missing some no brainer step in all this?  Could I have accidentally electronically locked something up with the remote?  I have been trying to follow the guidelines in the manual - again to no avail.

Any help/insight is greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue but in my case it turned out to be the battery holder in the key fob broke loose so there was not contact and the starter would not engage via remote.  It was still under warranty so I took it in and they fixed it - replacing the parts.  the tech told me the relay for teh remote start goes bad often.  I hope this helps.

Take it back to the dealer an see if they can play with it and get it to work. Thats the best advice I can offer.
