Yea.. I would have thought there was a GM mechanic on these forums. At least I was hoping. Maybe go over the existing threads and see if you can pick out an above average answer and try sending them a private message. They might not be regulars. Also hunt up another Chevy forum or another one here since the problems should be universal at GM.

Good luck again...

You may be right Guvner but I just don't have the money to start all over.  I wouldn't even have bought the stock DVD if I knew it wasn't going to work.  I never imagined that I was going to have this much trouble getting it programmed.  I also am suprised at the lack of responses.

Unfortunately, you are pretty much on your own when it comes to modifying a 2007/08 GM product.  I was also surprised when I figured out that nothing on my Tahoe was simply "plug & play".  As I said earlier GM's position is to not support equipment swaps and most dealers simply don't want to get involved.  I'm on the East Coast so I can't hook you up with a tech, but you might try some of your local non-chevrolet GM dealers (GMC, Caddy) as they should have access to the same software tools.

Also, since doing these mods is against GM policy, anybody "with" a tech contact probably would not want to identify them on a board for fear of getting them in hot water.  One other suggestion would be to look through the NAV or camera posts (see stickys) and DL3 posts for people that had programming done and look up their location - if in your area PM them and ask if they'd be willing to share the dealer where they had the work done......

I've been reading how easy it is to add this to your car. Where are the experts on this? They need to take down the sticky's at the top of this forum if this is a maybe at best. People come here and read the posts and I sure thought it was fact. I'm really quite surprised that no one has stepped up to the plate other then to tell you how lucky you were to get help that you paid $105 an hour for that was basically worthless. What good is it if this isn't really something that can be done. Either it is possible and we have weak dealer mechanics who can't do it or the posts on this forum detailing how easy it is are entirely wrong. It's one or the other. It can't be both ways. I was on the lookout for a deal as I always am with my plan of buying the Kenwood if I had to ante up the big bucks. Now I'm quite sure something is really wrong here. I'm hoping someone has an actual answer here soon. If the answer is you have to find a dealer willing to call GM then you are entirely entitled to your money back as your dealer just failed for you and once he took your money despite someone saying it was something he wasn't supposed to do he's made his decision by trying and accepting your money. If he doesn't want to finish it up get your money back. I would. And it would be back in my pocket for sure.

I'm still with you guvner.  I felt so confident after reading and re-reading these posts so I was sure this was going to work.  I have one last shot on Tuesday with a tech that says he has done this before so hopefully he can get it done for me.  With all the people that have got this done I can't believe none of the tech's around here know how to do this.  Has anyone been successful on doing this on an '08.  Maybe GM found out so many people were changing their radios that they just put a stop to it.  Which really dosen't make sense to me because we are PAYING FOR IT!  Why can't they just do what we want if we put up the money?  Chevy is $210 richer from me and they really didn't do anything to satisfy this customer.

Interestingly enough, GM now offers the NAV radio as a "supported" accessory for vehicles not originally equipped with NAV for both 2007 & 2008:

http://www.gmaccessorieszone.com/

Go to link and look up Tahoe accessories - NAV description states:

"Required and optional accessory equipment may vary depending on your vehicle. Prices shown are suggested manufacturer's retail price, not including applicable vehicle calibration, balancing, installation or taxes. Dealer final prices may vary. See your dealer for details."

As such, you would think that all dealers should be responsible to know how to change out any GM radio offered in the Tahoe without charging you for their learning experience.  I'd call GM customer service at this point.

Yeah I noticed that too.  When I was at the dealer on Friday it is also in the asscessories brochure.  How could they install it if they don't know how to do it? If my next attempt dosen't work I will be contacting Gm Support.

Looks like there's a way home from here after all... Keep us up on what happens... I wonder what the status is on the bumper to bumper warranties and if they include electronics if you bought the actual new one from GM for the really big money.

You know what difference does it really make.  Someone bought it from GM, (most likely), and they all have manufacture dates on them.  They should honor them just the same.

Success!!!  ZX you were right again!!!  The tech that worked on it called the support line and 15 min later everything is working.  He was given a number to program into the BCM.  I hooked everything up yesterday and put the center console in and everything works great.  I returned to the first dealer that I paid the $210 for tech time and told them what had happened and told them i wanted my money back.  I was told that the tech tried but couldn't do it so I had to pay for it because they had to pay the tech.  WHAT!!!  I guess I have to pay for his incompetence.  Maybe he could use that money for some more classes!  Needless to say I will not return there for anything.  Makes sense right sacrifice $210 for a lifetime of service.  Good Call.

Also thanks to everyone for your help

That's great that you got it fixed.

You might try small claims court to get your money back.  It's usually a pretty simple process and doesn't involve lawyers.
