A friend of mine has a 2500 4x4 95 with a 6.5 turbo desiel. (cab and a half, ong box) He says he gets about 17 mpg. The new ones are supposed to be better, and if your careful of what you add you will be able to improve you milage and power. The desiel aftermarket is really starting to take off now. Especially for the newer diesels.
