I bought a 2005 Uplander LT. Ordered it from the factory and it was delivered within 6 weeks. I have driven it for 1,000kms. It replaces a 2002 Dodge Gran Caravan. The Dodge had many warranty issues for the two years that we drove it. Within 80,000kms, I replaced a transmission, several major parts on the steering mechanism, and an ignition immobilizer component. In fairness, Chrysler did all this work on warranty. It would have broke the bank if I had to pay for it. My new Uplander is FWD. Being the LT version, it is fairly well equipped. My family is very thrilled with all of the goodies, especially the DVD player, which is now about 3rd generation in the vans. The sound systems in Uplander are able to separate 3 differant ways. I am thrilled with the improvements in OnStar. We had it before in one our new vehicles and liked it then, but there was no cell phone capability at that time [2001] in Canada I also enjoy the responsive handling capabilities of the 17 inch wheel rims as compared to the 15 inch rims I had on my Dodge. The overall fit and finish to the vehicle is very good. I would recommend going to the LT version of the Uplander as it comes with many more features that are standard that are otherwise options in the LS. This is especially true, if you order it from the factory and only get what you want in the vehicle. My family and I look forward to enjoyment of driving our new Uplander for a few years.

I had 6,500 miles on my Uplander and the brakes felt like they were grabing, so I took it to my dealer and when I picked it up I found that they turned down ALL 4 ROTERS due to warping and I was very up set. I told the service writer that all the milage was highway miles and he said (and I can't believe he said this) "Well that's your problem, while your driving on the highway your brakes heat up and then when you get off on the exit ramp and hit your brakes thats what warped the roters". I told him that he didn't know what he was talking about, and then he said that their orders from GM are If a customer complains about their brakes grabing to turn them down. I called GM and opened up a file on the van and now I have a File number to refer to. If you need to open a file on you Uplander call 1.866.952.4368 and give them your report and they will give you a file number.

I had less than 4500 miles on my Uplander and the brakes did the same thing. The dealership turned all 4 Roters. The van is still grabing when I brake. Has anyone had trouble with the sliding power doors not closing or opening after you close them?????
I had less than 4500 miles on my Uplander and the brakes did the same thing. The dealership turned all 4 Roters. The van is still grabing when I brake. Has anyone had trouble with the sliding power doors not closing or opening after you close them?????
No problem with the doors..yet. I talked to the service manager at my dealership and he tells me that GM has a vendor problem with the rotors. He went to a managers meeting and the topic was brakes. It seems that even if a brand new uplander sits for 30 or more days the brakes grab due to rust. So make sure you call GM and open a file on your van and they will give you a file number. My van is siting in the garage and I have been using my other car as a daily driver, I want to have the brakes rust and grab so I can get new roters. Lots of luck.
